Game Review: God of War
Sony has over the past decade gone from a hardware maker peddling a handful of playable games to one of the powerhouse publishers in the games industry, with a stable of franchises that includes the crushingly beautiful action series God of War. Still, when the PSP series instalment was announced, I joined those who wondered how well the concept would transfer to the portable.

Page of wisdom
Joanna Page is one half of the title couple from BBC Three’s comedy Gavin & Stacey, a love story spanning from Barry to Essex. The bubbly blonde talks to Jonathan Williams about acting, screaming and fans confusing fiction and reality.
It is simple human nature that we, for better or worse, assume to know a person‘s personality based on their appearance. Audiences unfamiliar with Joanna Page, the petite Swansea-born star of Gavin & Stacey, might, for example, assume her to be a ditzy blonde.

Son of Rambow takes no prisoners
When some people first hear the title Son of Rambow, they conjure up nightmarish visions of Sylvester Stallone passing on the baton to some illegitimate love child so the series can run forevermore. Well, worry not.

Mariah beats the King
Elvis, the King of Pop, has been demoted to third place for the most number of No. 1’s in the US charts by a self-confessed 12 year old called Mimi.
Mariah Carey, with the help of her new single Touch My Body, now can claim 17 No. 1 hits in the US charts. The singer told Associated Press that she was “really happy” but would not compare herself to Elvis or the Beatles, who currently hold the record with 20 singles at the top.

Review: Horton’s adventure with the Whos is well worth a watch
Just as the Snowman, Willow the Whisp, Trap Door and Danger Mouse are part of all of our childhoods, Charlie Brown and Dr Seuss are part of US children’s culture. But even if you do like green eggs and ham, don’t be put off by Dr Seuss’ fanciful tales, one of which has now been turned into a movie by the people behind that furry, nut-mad squirrel Scratch from Ice Age. ALBUM OF
THE MONTH:
Hold on Now Youngster - Los Campesinos!
If you want to talk about student bands, then Los Camp! are an extreme example. Forming under 2 years ago while at University, the music-obsessed seven recorded a four track EP (the original Hold on Now Youngster), put it up on myspace for free download and then, with a few smartly placed references, let the internet do the work for them.

GIG OF THE MONTH:
Catch Riley - University of Salford
On first appearance the group seem nothing out of the ordinary. A four piece made up of bass, guitar and drums. As the first song begins, the energy coming from the stage is almost tangible. The pop/funk sound with the tinge of rock immediately grabs the interest of everyone listening. The lead singer and guitarist of the group, Luke Rendall, has a crisp and distinctive tone to his voice, along with amazing stage presence that wows the crowd. David Smith on guitar compliments Luke whilst also showcasing his own musical style.

Colin Murray talks radio
Radio 1’s Colin Murray talks to Tom Williams about leaving the Edith and Colin Show and taking on the challenge of his own solo project.
It has been two years since Radio 1’s hugely popular Colin and Edith Show came to an end. Its success was largely due to the warmth and humour shared between the shows hosts, close friends Colin Murray and Edith Bowman, which resulted in the afternoon show setting new listening-figure records for its timeslot. Breaking up such a popular and successful partnership to pursue his late night solo show was a risky and brave decision, but one that Colin Murray explained to me to be both necessary and made all the more easy by his close friendship with Edith:

Eastern Promises
When thinking of London, most people conjure up images of the West End, glitzy galas and fabulous festivals. This is not the London shown in David Cronenberg’s latest movie Eastern Promises, which instead focuses on the seedier side most of the cities residents will be only to happy never to witness.
