THE INDY MUSIC AWARDS ANNOUNCE SHORTLISTED ACTS
After more than 30,000 votes were cast online, the London based independent music industry packed into the Rock Garden in Covent Garden last night to hear the shortlist announcement for The INDY Music Awards, the UK’s first exciting awards scheme to fully recognise the venues, promoters and artists that keep the grassroots music scene thriving.
40,000 independent artists graced the many hallowed stages of London last year. 218 of them were nominated by 60 of London’s top independent venues and promoters, and fans then voted for their favourite acts via the dedicated website www.indyawards.co.uk. 36 acts from all over the country are now celebrating having made the final shortlist across 9 different categories, including the Virgin Extreme Best Indie Act, Best Pop Rock Act and Best Hip Hop Act to name a few.
