Student maintenance loans
What is a student loan?
The purpose of a student loan is to help cover the costs of your tuition fees and basic living (rent, bills, food etc). Many other kinds of loan are available to students whilst they are studying at university or college. Depending on the source of the loan, the interest rate can have a severe impact upon the overall debt at the end of your degree. However, a student loan, or student maintenance loan as it is sometimes known, is interest free: inflation is taken into account, so the overall amount will be slightly higher than the figure borrowed, but you will not be charged for interest added. Maintenance loans are available to all full-time, English and EU citizens who have been resident in the UK for three years. If you do you fit in to this category, you can contact the Student Loans Company for more information. Read More |
