The very first graduates from Coventry University's branch campus in Egypt have been celebrating their academic achievements today (8 December).

Students at The Knowledge Hub in Cairo, which delivers a number of Coventry University courses, donned their caps and gowns for the campus' inaugural graduation ceremony.

Nearly 300 students made up the first ever cohort to collect their degrees from The Knowledge Hub, which is a collaboration with El Sewedy Education, a private investor in higher education initiatives in Egypt.

Coventry University has worked closely with The Knowledge Hub to deliver undergraduate courses across the schools of Engineering, Computing, and Design and Media. The graduating students have earned degrees in:

  • BEng Civil Engineering
  • BEng Mechanical Engineering
  • BEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering
  • BSc Computing
  • BSc Computer Science
  • BSc Ethical Hacking and Cybersecurity
  • BA Digital Media
  • BA Graphic Design
  • BA Interior Architecture and Design

Professor John Latham CBE, Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive of Coventry University Group, said: "Any graduation ceremony is a fantastic occasion for students and staff alike but as this is The Knowledge Hub's inaugural event it is doubly special.

"Coventry University Group is committed to creating better futures on home soil and abroad, while empowering the next generation by delivering excellence in teaching across a diverse range of subjects.

"We are confident that the skills these students in Egypt have learned over the past three years mean they can make a real difference to their own lives and their communities."

Ahmed El Sewedy, chairman and founder of El Sewedy Education, said: "Post-graduation marks a transformative journey for our graduates as they step into the professional realm. My heartfelt wishes go out to them for continued success as they become the leaders of tomorrow. I recognise their potential as valuable contributors to the global job market.

"I extend my gratitude to Coventry University's honorable delegation, The Knowledge Hub Universities' dedicated teams, the graduates' parents and our collaborators. Together, our collective efforts have played a crucial role in the success of the collaboration between The Knowledge Hub Universities and Coventry University."

Ihab Salama, CEO of El Sewedy Education, added: "This is a proud moment for all of us as we celebrate the graduation of the first cohort of the Coventry University branch campus at The Knowledge Hub Universities in Egypt. This accomplishment signifies the success of our collaboration with Coventry University and the hard work of our students. They emerge ready for the job market and prepared for global competitiveness. It's a testament to our collective commitment to excellence and a promising future."

Due to the success of the TKH base in Cairo – known as TKH East – a second branch campus on the other side of Cairo, in New Zeyad City, to be known as TKH West, has been announced with construction due to begin soon.
